Our Nature Champion team at ACO has been patrolling the site grounds, at Shefford, exploring ways to further enhance living accommodations for our small, four-legged friends (amphibians). Led by our Sustainability Lead, Adam Russell Cane, they spotted a family of newts in a manhole. They were safely relocated to the green landscaping surrounding the site. Additionally, slinkies were added to protect the bird food from the cheeky squirrels!
A key aspect of our recent site expansion was to create a habitat-sensitive environment that cares for the surrounding nature and water resources. Volunteers like our Nature Champions play a crucial role in ensuring we stay true to these commitments.

Mount Sinai Hospital (Toronto), Sinai Health is celebrating the largest redevelopment in Sinai Health’s history. The Ontario Government | Gouvernement de l’Ontario has invested $383 million to redesign 323,000 square feet, including expanding the emergency department, and operating rooms, and adding a 36-bed intensive care unit.
Dr. Gary Newton, President and CEO of Sinai Health, stated, “The expansion and modernization of Mount Sinai Hospital’s facilities were essential for delivering enhanced care to Toronto residents and specialized programs for all Ontarians.”
The provincial government has also announced a $ 228 million investment for critical infrastructure upgrades and repairs at 129 hospitals and 58 community healthcare facilities across #Ontario. - via REMI Network

The Ontario Government | Gouvernement de l’Ontario has announced the first round of investments from its House-Enabling Water Systems Fund, allocating $970 million to 54 projects across 60 municipalities. This funding aims to develop, repair, rehabilitate, and expand drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.
As part of this initial funding, the province is granting the Region of Peel $35 million to support the expansion of the G.E. Booth Water Resource Recovery Facility. This project will accommodate 46,784 housing units in the Region of Peel and includes extending water systems as well as installing new features like an aeration tank and filtration systems. Additional funded projects will be announced in the coming weeks. - via ReNew Canada
