At the recent 2017 International Festival of Landscape Architecture held in Sydney, ACO’s Greg Facey gave a speech to 500 landscape architects about ACO Freestyle, the newest addition to the ACO Heelsafe® Anti-Slip range of grates that enables designers to create unique custom iron grates.

As part of the 2017 International Festival of Landscape Architecture held in Sydney, a walking tour featuring ACO’s custom designed Heelsafe® Anti-Slip grates was organised by AILA. The tour began at Pitt Street Mall with Michael Wright from Spackman Mossop Michaels explaining the design concept for the mall refurbishment, including the iconic custom designed iron grate inspired by the historic Tank Stream that flows under Pitt Street. The tour continued to Angel Place where Catherine Wilson from Aspect Studios explained the design inspiration for the laneway upgrade, including the custom designed iron grate supplied by ACO. The tour culminated at the Tank Stream Bar for refreshments.

We've teamed up with the Food & Drink Federation to host a
one-day workshop on hygienic engineering and design.
The ‘Hygiene by Design’ event has been organised to help manufacturers develop best practice based upon the principles of hygienic engineering and design, and their application at every stage of the manufacturing process from plant design through to processing and packaging.
Aimed at major food manufacturers and drink producers as well as smaller niche food producers, the event will feature key speakers from the European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG), academic bodies, leading industry experts, major retailers and food manufacturers.

In the City of Wagga Wagga, drainage works on the first of four pedestrian crossings in Baylis Street is now complete.
Baylis Street is the main shopping strip and the drains will help reduce large puddles forming on the footpaths during heavy rain events and are part of an overall improvement program for the city.
ACO Iron Wave Heelsafe® Anti-Slip grates were installed in ACO’s KlassikDrain modular drainage channels.

At the recent AILA Western Australian State Award Night ACO organised a competition where the landscape architects created a custom grate design. Scientists are predicting significant changes to weather systems due to the effects of climate change. Storms creating flash flooding, intense rainfall and rising sea levels will have an economic impact on the built environment, affecting businesses, transport systems, public health and safety.
ACO’s Technical Service Department recommends the most suitable grated trench drainage system for the projects unique hydraulic requirements. The company also has an involvement with the UNSW Water Research Laboratory in the area of grate hydraulics.

A lot of inspiring grate designs were created. Landscape architects can create a distinctive feature with ACO’s custom grate design capabilities.
